ScreenDuty Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

In short

We only collect what the app needs. No advertising, no selling data, no tracking or usage analytics. We never ask for a child's date of birth, surname, email or location. Photos are private and deleted automatically within 7 days at most. You can delete everything in the app.

1. Who we are

The controller is GAMITECH, Lda., a private limited company (sociedade por quotas), registered office Rua Casais dos Morgados, 34, Casais dos Morgados, Chão da Parada, 2500-926 Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, registered with the Caldas da Rainha Commercial Registry under number 517547155 ("we"). Privacy contact: [email protected].

2. Who this covers

What we don't process: location, contacts, a child's date of birth, surname or email, browsing history, app-usage history, payment details (payments happen in the App Store or Google Play).

On iPhone, the apps to block are chosen in Apple's own picker and the choice stays on the child's phone. On Android, the app sees which app is open so it can block it; this is used on the phone and never sent to or stored by us.

Photos: we ask for photos of the task or the study material, not of the child. If a person appears in a photo, it is handled the same way and deleted within the same periods.

4. Legal bases

Contract with the guardian (GDPR 6(1)(b)) for the guardian's account, family, subscription and notifications; consent given by the holder of parental responsibility (6(1)(a), Art. 8; in Portugal, Art. 16 of Law 58/2019) for the child's data and photos; legitimate interest in a safe and reliable service (6(1)(f)) for security alerts and abuse prevention; legal obligation (6(1)(c)) for tax and invoicing where applicable. Consent is asked in a dedicated pop-up every time a guardian adds a child; we keep who gave it, when, and the wording version. It can be withdrawn any time by removing the child in the app.

5. Artificial intelligence

Photos of study material or the school planner go to our AI provider (Anthropic) to write quiz questions or task suggestions. We send only the photo and the school year, never the child's name. The provider acts as our processor and, under the applicable commercial terms, doesn't train its models on this data; it may keep it for a limited period for safety and abuse prevention under those terms. Proof photos of physical tasks are never sent to AI. Quizzes and suggestions are labelled as AI-made in the app and may contain mistakes.

Automated decisions: the quiz result decides whether minutes are granted at once. This has no legal or similarly significant effect (GDPR Art. 22); the child can always ask a guardian to review, and guardians can grant or cancel minutes.

6. How long we keep data

Photos: deleted once no longer needed and in any case after 7 days. Sent notifications: 3 days. Earned minutes: expire after 30 days. Push tokens: until sign-out, removal of the phone or deletion of the account. Task, quiz, request, alert and unlock history: 12 months, then deleted automatically (only the totals behind the child's badges and level are kept). Other account and family data: while the account exists. Hosting backups: up to 7 days. Deleting the account in the app removes the guardian and, for the family's last guardian, the whole family.

7. Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent data. Processors under Art. 28 agreements: Supabase (database, authentication, private photo storage, server functions; United Kingdom, London); Anthropic (AI; US); RevenueCat (subscriptions; US); Expo / 650 Industries (push notifications; US); Cloudflare (website). Notifications (e.g. "Duarte finished Read for 20 minutes") travel through Expo and Apple's or Google's push services and include the child's display name and the task name. Apple and Google act as independent controllers for payments, sign-in, notification delivery and the system features used for blocking. Transfers outside the EEA: app data is hosted in the United Kingdom, covered by a European Commission adequacy decision; other transfers (US) rely on the Commission's standard contractual clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Within a family, all guardians see the same data about the children. We may disclose data when legally required by a competent authority.

8. Security

Encryption in transit; each family can only reach its own data (tested database access rules); photos in private storage, opened only with short-lived links; no secret keys in the app. We notify the CNPD and, where required, affected people of a personal data breach.

9. Website

screenduty.com uses no advertising or analytics cookies and loads no third-party content. The new-password page keeps the session needed to change the password in the browser, temporarily. If you choose the site's language, that choice is kept only in your browser so the site opens in that language next time; clear the site's data to remove it.

10. Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawing consent. Much of this is in the app; for the rest, email [email protected]. We reply within one month. A child can exercise their rights through a guardian or by contacting us. You can complain to the CNPD (www.cnpd.pt) or the data protection authority where you live.

11. Cancelling the subscription

Deleting the account doesn't cancel the App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it in your Apple or Google account settings.

12. For children

ScreenDuty keeps your name, your character and your school year so your parents know it's you. It keeps the tasks you do and the minutes you earn. Your photos are only to show the task to your parents and are deleted quickly, within a week at most. When you photograph your notes, a clever computer writes the quiz questions, but it never learns your name. Nobody outside your family sees your things. If you have questions, talk to your parents.

13. Changes and contact

We'll tell you in the app before any important change takes effect. GAMITECH, Lda. — Rua Casais dos Morgados, 34, Casais dos Morgados, Chão da Parada, 2500-926 Caldas da Rainha, Portugal — [email protected]
